Schools, Colleges & Youth Groups at Marwell Activity Centre

Staff Frequently Asked Questions

How long have you been working with children and adventurous activities?

Our centre was founded in 1982 by teachers Colin and Viki Cooper. Since then the outdoor facilities have grown every year resulting in over 20 available activities.

How can you accommodate a school group of young children?

From the moment a school group arrives we have the facilities to make your visit run smoothly. Coach parking areas and mini bus spaces allow easy access to the main site and they are able to stay all day. Depending on the weather we could locate a large group under a shelter for a single day visit or inside one of our heated halls.

Are we insured during our visit?

All of our visitors and participants are covered by our standard £5 million Public Liability Insurance.

Will our classes mix with other schools?

During their time at the centre young people are advised to stay in their school groups at all times. Activities, accommodation and evening events are always kept to these school groups. Because of our large provision of outdoor activities and four separate residential dorms we can not keep groups apart 100% of the time. Our instructing staff and site wardens continually monitor groups in case problems should arise.

Can we visit to have a look around before our main trip?

If you have booked or are thinking of booking a single or multi day trip with a group and would like to arrange a preview day then please call our office team on 01962 777547 or alternatively contact us via email at info@marwellactivitycentre.co.uk.

What do the pupils have to bring?

There is a kit list available to download and print to give to all students. It is important for leaders and teachers to decide on their own policy for students to bring cameras and phones. The centre advises not to take phones and cameras onto activities as we can not be held responsible for loss or damage. The best course of action is to nominate a teacher/leader to take photos of everyone and collate them onto a disk.

Can you explain your first aid provision?

All of our instruction staff have a first aid award. All senior members must have a first aid certificate and there must be one on site at all times. During a visit, participants are never far away from a first aid box and some activities take a mobile pack with them. All accidents and near misses are recorded.
