Statement of Intent
Marwell Activity Centre operates by outdoor education and outdoor activities from the age of 4 upwards and is controlled
by a management committee. We recognise the importance of ensuring, promoting and improving the health, safety and welfare
of employees and all other persons, especially children. Safety and enjoyment from our activities is paramount which is
why we have high quality instruction from NGB trained staff, health and safety procedures for all operations and continual
risk assessments.
External Standards
As well as continually renewing safety policies and following health and safety documents, centre operations and staff follow
external guidelines and procedures. After in house training staff are trained by National Governing Body guidance to run
specific activities and then are reviewed periodically by the Senior Team of Instructors. The various rope and wire activities
operated by our staff follow guidelines from the European Ropes Course Association. The centre’s Local Education Authority
is Hampshire County Council who regulates our activities for groups in their area.
Safe Programs for our Visitors
The centre operates under a management structure which ensures a duty supervisor is on site as well as a warden being available
for further issues. All the senior team have been given fire/health and safety training as well as first aid certificates.
It is very important that the programmes are tailor made for each visitor to ensure maximum enjoyment. The outdoors is a
fantastic place to build social and physical skills whilst enjoying the experience and is an ever changing environment.
Instructors are able to assess all the variables in a session which creates a balanced learning objective for all involved.
